Maddox Larson is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Philosophy at Northwestern University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, with minors in Economics and Mathematics, from Creighton University.
His primary research interests are in epistemology, especially its intersection with social and political philosophy. Broadly, he investigates the ways in which an agent’s social context – social, political, and economic systems – shape belief-formation and our pursuit of higher-order epistemic goods (knowledge, understanding, wisdom). More specifically, Maddox is interested in how norms associated with the American democratic and capitalistic systems shape belief-formation.
