Graduate Alumni Evan Dutmer's forthcoming book: "Cicero’s New Leadership: A Proto-Transformational Leadership Theory"

We have some great alumni news from Evan Dutmer, a 2019 PhD graduate in Ancient Philosophy!

Evan has a forthcoming book on Cicero's leadership theory that will be published in the Jepson Studies in Leadership series with Edward Elgar Publishing (hosted by the Jepson School of Leadership Studies at University of Richmond). Cicero’s New Leadership A Proto-Transformational Leadership Theory.

Evan was also a finalist for the David W. Concepción Prize for Excellence in Philosophy Teaching this past year (2025). https://www.apaonline.org/page/teaching_prize

Evan is currently a Senior Instructor in Ethics and Curriculum Leader in the Department of Leadership Education at Culver Academies.

Prof. Morgan Thompson received the Journal of Applied Philosophy's Charles Mills prize for her co-authored paper "Who Counts in Official Statistics? Ethical-Epistemic Issues in German Migration and the Collection of Racial or Ethic Data".

Morgan's co-authors for this paper are Daniel James and Tereza Hendl. The Charles Mills prize is awarded every two years for an outstanding paper published in the JOAP on the themes of Mills’ work. Read the paper here. Congratulations Morgan!
